In this two-day immersive workshop, you'll learn how to navigate the Common App portal with ease and master the art of writing essays that showcase your unique story and aspirations.
Discover the secrets to approaching different essay prompts, develop strategies for impactful storytelling, and gain confidence in presenting your best self to admissions committees. Whether you're just getting started or refining your drafts, this workshop will equip you with the tools to stand out in a competitive applicant pool.
Day 1 begins with an overview of the Common App system, ensuring participants are comfortable navigating the platform. The session will also delve into the key components of the personal essay, with an exploration of the various prompts candidates might encounter. Participants will receive a short assignment to start brainstorming ideas.
Mentor: Larisa Shrestha
Larisa is currently an associate for a medical research company in Somerville, Massachusetts. She completed her bachelors degree at Harvard University in Neuroscience after receiving a Opportunity Fund Grant Scholarship in 2017. She also holds a certificate in Darwin and the Origins of Evolutionary Biology from Oxford University and an interdisciplinary certificate in Typical and Atypical Neurodevelopment from Harvard University's Harvard Graduate School of Education. She holds several years of mentorship experience and in conducting programs through the Harvard Global Education Movement.

Kuhiro Class is a network of professionals and alumni from the world’s best institutions, including colleges such as Oxford, The Wharton School, NYU Stern, Cambridge, Harvard, Cornell, Tufts, MIT, as well as organisations such as FTI, Bank of Canada and Delloite. This previous year we supported students with a series of research papers and in gaining admissions into some of the most competitive programs in the world including programs at Cornell, Stanford, MIT, Vanderbilt, University of Pennsylvania, University of Syracuse, Duke University, University of Melbourne, Boston University, University of Toronto, Rutgers University, Georgia Tech, UT Austin among many many others.
