Manali

The journey into Manali immerses students in the spirit of a Himalayan retreat. Nestled at an altitude of about 2,050 meters, Manali is a vibrant mountain town celebrated for its apple orchards, lively markets, and snow-capped peaks. Framed by rivers and deodar forests, it offers an inspiring landscape for reflection, creativity, and writing.

General Eligibility

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Candidates must have started work on their graduate college application essays or scholarship. This session is not for undergraduate applicants.
Candidates must bring several pairs of socks!
Candidates should be in good physical health and capable of short-duration treks.

Health and Safety

Although this session and included treks are relatively short, we strongly advise individuals with serious medical conditions not to participate.

Taha Mughal | Lead Mentor

Taha Mughal, an architect, historic preservationist, and writer, holds advanced degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Pennsylvania. A recipient of prestigious scholarships like the Charles Wallace India Trust and Fulbright-Nehru, he has also received offers from Harvard and other renowned institutions.

His work spans Heritage, Culture, Politics, and Literature. Over the past decade, he has mentored underprivileged communities in North India through art. Currently, he is co-translating Kashmiri classical literature in the Himalayas and has contributed to a Barakat Trust-UK-funded project on Early Modern Kashmir.

INR 62,000 (-15% for Kuhiro Class members)

Our prices are inclusive of stay, academic resources, course fee, travel from Delhi to Manali and back, breakfast and dinner from October 11 - 18, 2025. Alcohol is not included in this prices and highly discouraged during this expedition.

Participants flying in from outside of India are requested to reach Delhi by the 10th of October; food and accommodation will be provided for them for the 10th of October.
